Zadie's Market Marshall

I can’t begin to explain how amazing this place is! Food was PHENOMENAL! We had the Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes, the Zadie Bird with French Fries, and the Grilled Cheese with Mac & Cheese. The meatloaf is a seasonal item - it was very tender and tasty! The Zadie Bird had just the right kick to it, and was fantastic! Our kids had the grilled cheese with the bacon-onion jam and they could not get enough. Donna Ray and Soren were amazing in helping us with food and drink recommendations. The restaurant, bar and hotel are in a building which was the old jail house in town. Highly recommend a visit next time you are in town!

Definitely worth the stop! I ordered the rainbow bowl and it was fantastic! Nice breezy outdoor seating right by the river. You order at the walk up counter and bus your own table.

They had both vegetarian and gluten-free options, and were able to answer detailed questions about ingredients/allergy info. The food was great, and they have both indoor and outdoor seating.

Zadie’s was a great lunch spot on the river! We stopped by for wine and a bite in the old jail house. The restaurant is situated right on the French Broad and looks great after recovering from Hurricane Helene. Definitely give them a try!

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The food is so good and the staff is so friendly and helpful. We are visiting from Wisconsin and here in Marshall for a week. We have been multiple times and plan on going more before we leave. The Zadie bird and beet salad are my absolute favorite! My husband loves the chicken and waffles. The chicken and the waffles are gluten free. They have great shrimp and grits and the rainbow bowl was delicious too!

A lot to say about this place. But, to make it short and sweet I'll say that the tomato soup and grilled cheese was phenomenal. Liked to taste some of the wines, but the cranberry orange blossom was perfect. The view, the history and the atmosphere of this place is definitely worth visiting (even if it's a quick lunch). I absolutely loved the hummus, too. Nala and I can't wait to return.

We stumbled upon Zadie's just doing a broad search for gluten-free food & saw they had GF fried chicken sandwiches & chicken & waffles. We drove an hour & a half to indulge in this heavenly goodness & shew it is worth it! We made a 2nd trip in less than 2 weeks just to have it again & we will make many more trips! It is absolutely worth it!! The fried chicken sandwich, the Zadie Bird, is huge! You can tell their ingredients are fresh & I most definitely appreciate a slice of fresh tomato on my sandwich. The fries were amazing & so are the pimento grits. But their gluten-free chicken & waffles are out of this world fantastic! The spicy maple syrup!! The fluffy waffle!! They also have an array of different types of drinks to satisfy any & everyone's taste buds. From classic sodas, healthy soda, seltzers, beer, to ciders. You name it, they got it. It's a very unique place as it's centered around the building being an old jail. Nice outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade & you sit in reaching distance of the train tracks (safely, of course) right next to the French Broad River. Great atmosphere & amazing food!!

Zadies is back open and ready for your support! Food is always delicious and beer is the bomb. Staff is lovely. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Live music on some nights. It’s so nice sitting outside with the music or river rushing by. The chicken sandwich was massive and paired nicely with a watermelon lime poppi. Will be back shortly!
